David prayed. David the anointed servant of God was in danger of being hunted down and killed by the most powerful man in the land, king Saul. The cry of David’s heart to feel overwhelmed and the fear of being found by his enemies were no different than those we face. His life was continually in danger. The snared set by those who sought to catch and kill him were real.
And yet, every day, morning by morning, he rose up to encouraged himself in the Lord. He knew God’s faithfulness and kept his confidence in God’s favor. In these days of treachery and injustice, let us be like David. Let us rise in the morning to speak with God and hear His words.
The key to our peace and victory is not in being able to figure out what is going on but to know that the God who loves us is our defender and our righteousness. We can learn from Davis’s prayers, how hardship and danger can be defeated through meditation and trust in the LORD.
